I can only describe Pete as a true friend, brother and uncle, and someone that I will miss with all my heart, and I know that I am not alone when I say that his was one in a million.

I was honoured to lead him into the church and below is the poem that I read out; one that I hope you can all relate too, and maybe understand my thoughts when I wrote it.

SON, BROTHER, UNCLE & FRIEND

We’re all sat here,
Feeling low.
A very dear friend,
We’ve had to let go.

But as we all know,
Pete didn’t do sad.
So lets remember him now,
He was completely mad.

But over time,
He grew and grew,
Into the man,
That we all knew.

Balloons, Juggling,
Fire breathing too.
I’ve seen them all,
I tell you it’s true.

A heart of gold,
So pure and true.
He was always there,
To comfort you.

Whether going out,
Or staying in.
So much joy,
He’d always bring.

A friend to all,
And loved by many.
A typical student,
Never spending a penny.

Now that’s not quite true,
Let it be told.
He’d help you out,
The young or the old.

He travelled the world,
And had seen it all,
From the Canadian Rockies,
To the Albert hall

He had a super hero,
Called Spiderman.
But show him a real one,
And he’d run as fast as he can.

Pete lived for the moment,
Pete lived for the day.
Always smiling,
It was his way.

A Son, Brother,
Uncle and friend.
Our love for you,
Will never end.

It was a great poem, and it really captured the spirit of Pete. I wasn't his closest friend obviously, but he was to my brother, and your poem had me in tears. Thank you.
